MIDAS GTS NX
Integrated 2D & 3D Geotechnical Analysis Software

The Industry Challenge

Traditional geotechnical workflows are fragmented.

  • Separate tools for 2D and 3D
  • FEM and LEM handled in different software
  • External preprocessing and post-processing

This leads to inconsistency, inefficiency, and design risk.

One Platform for 2D and 3D

MIDAS GTS NX performs both 2D and 3D analyses within a single software environment. The same interface, solver framework, and material models are used throughout. No duplicated licenses and no workflow breaks.

FEM and LEM in One Integrated Environment

GTS NX uniquely combines Finite Element Method (FEM) and Limit Equilibrium Method (LEM) in the same platform. Users can perform stress deformation analysis and slope stability checks without switching software. Consistent geometry, material properties, and loading assumptions across analyses.

True 3D Geotechnical Modeling

GTS NX is developed with 3D ground behavior as the default, not as an extension of 2D assumptions. Slopes, excavations, tunnels, and foundations are modeled as they exist in the field. Many failures are governed by three-dimensional mechanisms.

Integrated CAD-Based Geometry

If you can draw it, GTS NX can model it

Native CAD-style geometry modeling is built directly into GTS NX. Automatic Boolean operations, imprinting, auto-connection, and geometry error correction are included. Faster model creation with fewer numerical failures. Model realistically. Analyze confidently. Design efficiently.

Customizable Boundary Conditions

MIDAS GTS NX allows users to define fully custom boundary conditions, rather than being restricted to predefined or limited boundary options. This flexibility enables accurate representation of complex field constraints, staged construction effects, and project-specific boundary behavior, resulting in more realistic and reliable analysis outcomes.

Parametric Evaluation Tool

MIDAS GTS NX includes a powerful parametric evaluation tool that allows users to systematically vary material properties or element parameters within a model and automatically re-run analyses. This enables efficient comparison of results, sensitivity assessment, and optimization of design parameters without rebuilding the model, significantly improving productivity and decision-making reliability.

Customizable soil constitutive models

MIDAS GTS NX supports customizable soil constitutive models, allowing users to tailor material behavior to match site-specific soil conditions and project requirements. This flexibility enables more accurate representation of nonlinear stress–strain response, drainage conditions, and stiffness degradation, resulting in realistic simulation of complex ground behavior.

Soil testing wizard

In geotechnical engineering practice, soil parameters are derived from laboratory tests and must be carefully translated into constitutive model inputs while accounting for model assumptions and limitations. MIDAS GTS NX includes a Soil Testing Wizard that allows users to simulate standard laboratory tests such as triaxial and oedometer tests directly, without creating a full finite element model. This enables validation and calibration of constitutive model parameters by comparing simulated responses with actual test results, ensuring realistic representation of soil behavior before applying parameters to full-scale analyses.

Advanced Integrated Dynamic Loading Tools

MIDAS GTS NX features a powerful in-built dynamic analysis module tailored for geotechnical and underground structures. It supports realistic earthquake loading using recorded ground motion data, dynamic response analysis, and the generation of practical moving loads such as trains and vehicles. These versatile tools enable accurate simulation of real-world dynamic actions, supporting reliable seismic and vibration-sensitive geotechnical design.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does TAQELL provide MIDAS software?

Yes. TAQELL supports MIDAS software enquiries, including MIDAS GTS NX, for geotechnical analysis and numerical modelling. Support may include licensing guidance, technical consultation, software onboarding and training, depending on the region and package.

Can I receive training on MIDAS GTS NX?

Yes. TAQELL conducts MIDAS-focused training and workshops for geotechnical engineers. Topics may include model creation, soil and rock material inputs, meshing, boundary conditions, excavation-stage modelling, slope stability, seepage, soil-structure interaction, tunnelling, foundations and result interpretation.

Do I need previous MIDAS experience to attend the training?

Not always. Beginner programmes may start with software navigation, geometry creation, material definition, meshing, loading and result interpretation. Advanced workshops may require prior experience in geotechnical engineering or finite-element analysis. Prerequisites will be mentioned in the programme announcement

Do participants receive temporary software access during MIDAS training?

Temporary or trial access may be provided for selected workshops, subject to the programme structure and MIDAS licensing terms. Participants should check the event details before registering and confirm whether they need to bring a laptop or install software in advance.

Can TAQELL conduct a customised MIDAS workshop using our project case?

Yes, subject to technical feasibility and confidentiality requirements. TAQELL can discuss a customised workshop based on applications such as deep excavation, slope stability, tunnelling, foundation analysis or soil-structure interaction.

Does TAQELL provide MIDAS software support after training?

TAQELL can assist with licensing guidance, software onboarding, training and initial technical coordination. The scope of ongoing technical support will depend on the licence package, region and support agreement.
